Where: Saihyou
When: Evening
Rating: PGish

Ruki opened the door of Saihyou. It was a little bar towards the end of town. It was nothing too fancy, but the drinks were good. The atmosphere was dim and smoky. Ruki looked around, catching sight of a waitress. He pointed to the bar and walked over to sit down. It had been a rough day. Ruki had made an effort to just be himself. He was dressed fashionably casual, with white rimmed shades on, despite the fact he was inside.

Perhaps, no one would recongize him.

Ruki took off the glasses and put them in his jacket pocket, after signaling for a drink. As he waited on the drink, Ruki hoped that Aoi had got the message he had left on his cell. Ruki knew he was early, so he'd give his bandmate a while. There was a lot to talk about.

Aoi parked his bike. He knew Ruki's be there already. His friend had sounded quite anxious in that emssage. The guitarist smiled before he entered the bar. And he was right. Ruki was right there, in their usual place.

"You look good, Ru-chan," he smiled.

Aoi sat down and ordered soem Asahi.

"Well, tell me. I heard some interesting news... Should I believe them?"

Ruki watched as Aoi sat down. At least, he wasn’t late. Giving his friend a half smile, Ruki took his drink off the table, listening to Aoi’s greeting.

“You too,” Ruki said, his lips heading for the glass.

After taking a sip, Ruki looked at Aoi, and gave him a nod. “Believe it,” Ruki replied softly, setting the glass down. He was still very unsure about all of this. Taking a deep breath, Ruki reached for his cigarettes. He hadn’t had one in a few hours and his nerves were killing him. Lighting one, Ruki offered Aoi one.

“They want us…you and me…to hold these auditions,” Ruki said, shaking his head.

Why them? Obviously, they would bring some attraction to the auditions, but Ruki only hoped they would see talent, not just armatures.

“What do you think about all of this?” Ruki asked.

Aoi sighed, accepting Ruki's cigarette. Actually, he was thinking the same. He didn't know what they were up to. But sure it'd be fun.

"Well, amateurs or not, we'll have fun for sure," he said, smoking a bit. "And... come to think about it. I need to be on stage, Ru. We need new members. My life is boring without that rush of adrenaline."

He stared at Ruki. He was sure his friend knew that. Aoi needed the stage. He absolutely loved it. And he knew Ruki was just like him.

Ruki put his cigarettes back in the pocket that wasn't occupied by the sunglass. Once again filling his lungs with smoke, Ruki gave Aoi a firm nod. Aoi was right. He missed the stage, as well. He missed the studio too, but the stage more so. The fans, the songs, the rush, everything. They did need new members before they could move forward. Ruki wanted a new CD. He had been writing songs again. The words came to him at unusual times, but he was glad they were coming to him again. It only made him more anxious to start something new.

"You're right, sitting around is getting us nowhere. Maybe we can use this to our advantage, as well," Ruki said, looking over at Aoi. Giving Aoi a lopsided smile, Ruki continued: "We could steal the best."

"Well..." Aoi said, thoughtful. "Honestly, if they want our help, I'm not just going to give it for free, you know," he smirked.

That was the advantage of being childhood friends. He could tell what was on Ruki's mind as well as Ruki could do the same with him.

He sipped a bit of his drink and took out another cigarette, playing with it for a while.

"Anything else I should know? I didn't pick up the phone when our old manager phoned me the other day..."

Ruki laughed softly from behind his beer. "You're right. They are going to have to pay me to sit there and listen to who knows how many."

Shaking his head, Ruki sat the drink down. "I've been thinking too. This could be the publicity we need. Going major is a big step, and our name is going to be attached to this little project. I think it'll be a smart move."

Ruki looked at Aoi, as he mentioned the old manager. "He called me too," Ruki said. "I thought about letting the voice mail pick it up, but I answered. He didn't say much. I think he wants the best for us. I guess it's good to leave on good terms. I didn't think he was half bad though."

Suddenly, Ruki remember the paper folded in his back pocket. Reach for it, Ruki handed it to Aoi.

"If we want to do this," he said. "These are the dates. The first one is coming up really soon, so they want a decision. I don't know why they gave this to me. They should have given it to you."

Aoi sighed and shrugged.

"Well, I prefer to find a new manager, that's all," he said lighting another cigarette. "We want to start again, right? New members... and all... so we need new ideas..."

Aoi raised his eyebrows as he took the paper. He read it a couple of times while smoking.

"I think this is insane," he laughed. "I want to go back to this but... I want my life too... oh my," he laughed again.

Ruki puffed the last of his cigarette and put it out on the ashtray. Giving Aoi a nod, he looked over at the dark haired young man.

"Yeah, you're right," he said. "I was speaking to the CEO, last night. He said there were a few interested. I think they should send us their best three and we pick from them. If done of them work out, we'll send them packing. You're right, we need new ideas, but we also need someone who shares our dream."

Ruki rubbed his eyes. Damn, he was tired and he wan't feeling like himself tonight. Usually, he was full of energy. Was it the stress?

"It's your call, Aoi," Ruki said, finally. "We can do this or we can try again on our own. It'll be hard, but we did it once and we sure as hell can do it again. Still, going back to square one...," Ruki's thoughts trailed off, as he took another sip of his beer.
